fizzy drink billboards should include health warnings
From July 25, 2016, public advertisements on San Francisco posters and bus shelters will have to convey the message: \"WARNING: Drinking drinks that add sugar (s)
Causes obesity, diabetes and tooth loss.
These warnings must cover at least 20% of the advertising table.
This is consistent with the actions of Sugar\'s evidence-based action plan (
Submitted to the government)
This also requires a ban on selling any form of unhealthy food and beverages to children and adolescents.
Health warnings must also be extended to product labels.
The Action on Sugar says it is critical for parents to realize how unhealthy they are to eat these drinks regularly.
Jennifer Rosborough, campaign manager for sugar action, said: \"When unhealthy food and drinks are a greater cause of preventable death and disability in the UK, there is no reason to ban tobacco advertising.
If we are to address the growing obesity problem in the UK, if not immediately, it will weaken the NHS and consumers need to be fully aware that soft drinks contain a large amount of sugar, these sugars contribute to obesity and the development of type 2 diabetes.
